Janine has over 15 years of senior management experience and is currently the co-founder and owner of the successful digital strategy and marketing company, Social Act, and is also a Partner at Ivy League’s Africa office. She has previously been a Director and EXCO board member at The Nielsen Company, a Managing Director and EXCO Board Member at Ogilvy Interactive. She was also previously Managing Director at a digital strategy company Immedia, during the course of a stellar career in which she has specialised particularly in online digital marketing.



Jason Drew

Environmental capitalist
Jason is one of the world’s most inspiring green business leaders. A self-confessed environmental capitalist’, Jason argues sustainability has to have an economic impact and moreover, an economic reward, if it is to strike a chord with a global audience and indeed, himself. He believes that while capitalism may have caused many of the issues we face – it may be the only tool we have that is strong enough to fix the problems. He continues to apply his business strategies and ethics to his business alongside his avid passion for the sustainability of the environment.

Jeunesse lives and works with an understanding that one can change the world. Jeunesse is the founder of Food & Trees for Africa, the Carbon Protocol of South Africa and the Climate Hero Awards. She is a Climate Leader for Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and winner of several awards.
Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) is the only national social enterprise in South Africa to address sustainable development through climate change response, greening and food security programmes since 1990.


Richard Mulholland

Conference superhero and boredom slayer
For Rich, being a speaker and being a rock star aren’t that far apart. Being on stage means taking your audience on a journey, telling them a story. And who doesn’t like a good story? More importantly, who doesn’t remember one? Unlike a rock star though, he doesn’t care if you remember him or not – just as long as you recall what he said. But why the passion for provoking thought and action in the corporates? It’s just his way of educating companies and rescuing them from tired practices they sometimes insist on keeping the faith in. After all, he’s a giver.



Thulani Madondo

Executive director: Kliptown Youth Programme
At an hour when most people are only preparing to go to work Thulani Madondo is welcoming 400 young people to the Kliptown Youth Programme (KYP). As executive director of KYP, 31-year-old Madondo is involved in every aspect of this extracurricular support programme, from making sure every child gets a hearty breakfast to overseeing their after-school homework tutoring and skills training. In 2012 Madondo officially gained the title of hero — something his Kliptown community has been calling him for years. He was chosen as one of 10 CNN Heroes and is the first South African to win this accolade.



Kathy Bergs

Fair Trade Tourism
Kathy joined the FTT team at the beginning of 2011 as the organisation’s new General Manager. Kathy holds a BA in International Affairs and a Masters in International Management. Although Kathy began her career in international banking with Chicago-based Continental Bank and in the New York office of Lloyd’s Merchant Bank, she has spent the better part of the past 25 years working in the South African game lodge industry.



William Price

Global Manager eMarketing: South African Tourism
William has been described as a techno-geek, internet junky and gadget guy. He resembles all of these remarks. William joined SA Tourism in 2008 and has been responsible for the Global eMarketing activities, campaigns and online initiatives since then. A couple of the big projects have included the definition of the eMarketing Strategy at SATourism, the development of National Tourism Database, the rebuild of Southafrica.net and the implementation of the various online reporting systems with the business.


Ross Kata

Ross Kata has been working for Expedia Inc in Africa since 2003. Kata spent seven years in the hotel and tour operator industry in Europe and APAC. With that experience and knowledge, he was able to bring to Expedia Inc to Africa. His primary role on behalf of Expedia Inc is negotiating airline, hotels, destination experiences & affiliate deals with considerable expertise in online retail, merchandising, SEO, SEM, Mobile & Social Media. He has an extensive knowledge of the African online travel industry. Ross is also a Board Director of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).



Hannelie du Toit

Market Access & Research Manager: TEP
Hannelie is the hands-on marketing force at TEP and brings an insight into brand and product tourism to the organisation. Hannelie is involved and ultimately responsible for the development and implementation of all TEP marketing and communication strategies. She was responsible for the complete repositioning and rebranding of the organisation in 2009. In addition, Hannelie manages the activities around trade shows and exhibitions, public relations and publicity coverage, events and all the collateral development for the organisation.



Thekiso Rakolojane

Marketing and Communications Manager: Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA)
Thekiso is responsible for marketing the Star Grading System; South Africa’s only official quality assurance system for tourism products. Prior to joining the TGCSA, he was the Media Relations Manager at Standard Bank where he was responsible for profiling the bank’s initiatives within its Personal and Business Banking business units. He was extensively involved with the Standard Bank Annual SMME Survey, a partnership project between Standard Bank South Africa and World Wide Worx, an industry leader in SMME research. Thekiso is a public relations graduate from the University of Johannesburg, as well as holds a Strategic Marketing Programme (SMP) from the Gordon Business Institute (GIBS). He is currently enrolled with UNISA for a BCom in Marketing degree.
